Wild Edibles Foraging Course
This course will teach students how to identify 50-75 different species of plants, trees, shrubs, ferns, and lichens. The course involves an evening seminar at the Bancroft Campus of Loyalist College, followed by a 1-day field practical hike in Bancroft.
Topics include:- Basic principles of ecology and habitats
- Species preferences and site distribution
- Rules and regulations
- Safety and health concerns
- Ethics of plant foragingStudents will also learn to make teas, salads, jams, and Bannock.Wild Edibles manual included.Participants are to supply proper clothing, lunch/snacks, and transportation.
